![]() This first thing is this FireWire 800 enclosure with RAID 5 and a control panel: I wonder if anyone has a good recommendation. I found a few promising things, but there's some Mac gotchas. The only computer is a MacBook pro, so eSATA is probably out, but NAS might be cool, since he roams around the house a bit. I'd like to find an external RAID 5 enclosure that either has FireWire 800 or gigabit ethernet with AFS. He's got nearly 500GB on that RAID and it's fairly important stuff. Performance isn't really an issue, and after I explained spanning and MTBF he's a little scared. Currently he's keeping their archives on a two drive RAID 0 FireWire setup, thinking that two drives would increase reliability. I need to help a pro photographer fix their storage situation. ![]() ![]() This seems to come up a bit, but man is it hard to find a nice simple solution.
